  • Campaign highlights voice-first and regional-language features
  • Films released in seven Indian languages to boost local adoption

OpenAI has launched its first integrated brand campaign for ChatGPT in India, marking a major step toward localizing its AI tools for Indian users. The nationwide campaign, which will run across TV, OTT platforms, digital channels, print and outdoor media, focuses on making ChatGPT more natural and accessible in the languages people use every day.

The campaign showcases ChatGPT’s voice-first features and its expanding support for Indian languages. The goal, OpenAI said, is to help people use AI comfortably without switching to English. The initiative follows several India-specific product rollouts, including Study Mode for students, the affordable ChatGPT Go plan, and IndQA, a benchmark created to test AI performance across Indian languages and cultural contexts.

At the center of the campaign are two short films directed by photographer and filmmaker Bharat Sikka. Each film captures relatable Indian scenarios where ChatGPT supports users in learning, preparing and communicating with confidence. The films will be released in seven Indian languages Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu reflecting OpenAI’s push to reach users in their native languages.

Sheeladitya Mohanty, Head of Marketing- India, said, “We believe you shouldn’t have to switch languages to use AI”. He added that the campaign aims to show how people across India are already using ChatGPT to learn, express themselves and overcome daily challenges.

The first film, featuring a young woman preparing for a job interview using ChatGPT, is now live on YouTube and Instagram. The campaign will be amplified across TV, streaming platforms and outdoor placements over the coming weeks.

OpenAI also noted that ChatGPT Go has been available free for 12 months to eligible users in India since early November as part of a limited-time offer.
