Meesho's Mega Sale Generates 1.6 crore New App Installs and 120 crore Customer Visits

Meesho, a Bengaluru-based e-commerce platform, received 120 crore consumer visits and 1.6 crore new app installations during its last festive sale. The 'Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale' saw significant development in categories including apparel, home & kitchen, beauty & personal care, and others. Notably, in these categories, the platform managed over 72 orders per second.

"As the sale comes to a close, we are celebrating not only the numbers but also the stories behind each purchase". Megha Agarwal, CXO, Growth at Meesho, commented, "Our offerings such as Meesho Mall, Meesho Gold, and Loyalty Program have helped empower small businesses and delight customers". Customers came to shop for festive decorations, with jharokhas, diya thalis, rangoli stencils, torans, lanterns, and string lights in high demand. Surprisingly, Amravati, Aurangabad, Dehradun, Nellore, Solapur, and Warangal received 80% of the orders.

Small businesses on Meesho benefited greatly from the festive sale as well. Prior to the event, the site onboarded about 2 lakh new merchants, with nearly 30,000 sellers earning lakh patis level during the auction. Orders at Meesho Mall increased thrice over normal days, with regional and value companies seeing growth in areas such as personal care & beauty, footwear, clothes, and electronic accessories. 70% of these orders came from first-time Mall customers.

Meesho Gold, which launched with 88% new users, offered a diverse selection of products in categories such as ethnic apparel, jewelry, and home & kitchen. For the festive season, the company launched a loyalty program that allowed users to place approximately 1.4 million orders and collect smart coins worth Rs 50 crore. Sales of children's clothing increased by 114% during the festive season. Customers purchased a variety of things during the Cricket World Cup, including team shirts, bats, gloves, bat tape, stumps, wickets, and caps.

Meesho's mission is to empower 100 million small enterprises, including individual entrepreneurs, through its ecosystem by providing access to millions of customers, pan-India logistics, payment services, and customer support. Meesho has 120 million active users in CY22, with approximately 100 million added in the previous two years. The monthly transactional user count climbed greatly to 140 million, resulting in a ninefold increase in gross merchandise value and one billion orders, a 2.2-fold increase year on year. The coming Maha Diwali Sale, which will begin in October, will have 14 lakh sellers and about 12 crore product listings across 30 categories.
